Manchester United are undergoing preparations for the 2023/24 season, both on the training pitch and in the transfer market.

The Red Devils kicked off their pre-season campaign with a routine 2-0 win over Leeds on Wednesday and have now returned to the UK ahead of their game against Lyon in Edinburgh next week. Erik ten Hag’s side will face the Ligue 1 side at Murrayfield in their second friendly.

United have also been active in the transfer window as Ten Hag tries to get his squad ready for the 2023/24 season. A new goalkeeper is firmly on the Dutchman’s agenda and he is chasing Inter Milan’s Andre Onana, with a move understood to be close. The Red Devils could also add another striker but have also been tipped to sign a right-back.

Here are the latest rumours coming out of Old Trafford.

Evans training with Red Devils

Jonny Evans has been training with United as he looks to maintain his fitness following the expiration of his contract at Leicester.

The Northern Irishman has been without a club since leaving the Foxes last month and has been linked with a surprise move to Everton on a free transfer. But while Evans gets confirmation of a move elsewhere, he has travelled up to Carrington to keep fit and sharp ahead of the new season.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Evans has has been training with the United team for the past week as he considers his options for the 2023/24 campaign. It is understood Evans has been spending time with both the academy and the first-team group and the report indicated it has benefited both parties, with the player using the facilities ‘while lending his quality and experience’.

The defender came through the Red Devils academy before leaving in 2015 to join West Brom. After three years with the Baggies, Evans moved to Leicester and helped the Foxes finish fifth in back-to-back seasons, while also winning the FA Cup during his time at the King Power Stadium.

United are set to rival Manchester City and Juventus for the signing of Benjamin Pavard, according to Sky Germany, via GOAL.

Pavard could be allowed to leave Bayern Munich this summer and the Frenchman has attracted interest from elsewhere, with City the favourites to land his signature.

While Pep Guardiola’s men remain the likeliest to secure his services, United and Juventus haven’t given up hope to sign the World Cup winner. Sky report that the Red Devils are ‘interested’ in Pavard as Erik ten Hag tries to bolster their defensive options this summer.

Pellistri to head out on loan

Ten Hag will allow Facundo Pellistri to leave the club on loan for the 2023/24 season.

Pellistri has found game time hard to come by since joining the club in 2020 and has previously spent time on loan with Alaves. He will reportedly sign a new contract with United before heading out on loan once more, with a place in the first-team squad currently beyond him. He might not be alone, with Anthony Elanga attracting lots of interest from other clubs too.
