Fred sends message to Alex Telles as Manchester United exit sealed

Manchester United defender Alex Telles has sealed his exit from Old Trafford to join Al Nassr.

A long expected announcement came with Manchester United announcing Alex Telles has left the club.

Telles spent last season on loan at Sevilla, winning the Europa League. However, financial problems at the Spanish club meant they did not pursue a permanent move.

The Brazilian has signed for around £6 million, half the fee Manchester United paid Porto to sign him in 2020.

Alex Telles was a popular player with his United teammates, particularly with fellow Brazil international Fred.

Fred, whose own future at United is uncertain, sent a message to Telles to congratulate him on his move.

Telles wrote a farewell note on Instagram, writing: “Effort, hard work, dedication, talent, dedication, faith! I don’t know any different recipe in life to achieve and carry out our projects. When I arrived at United, I realized my dream of playing in one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“A giant with some amazing fans. A city where I made friends and was very happy. Today I close this incredible chapter in my journey, but rest assured that, as I always did in my career, I honored every moment of training and second game with the United shirt. Thank you, Manchester, thank you United.”

Fred responded with a message which read, “You are a phenomenon brother, it was a pleasure to play alongside you!”

Time for Telles to go

Erik ten Hag was in the stands at Selhurst Park to watch Alex Telles make his 50th competitive appearance for Manchester United at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Telles never played a meaningful match for the club again. While he did play every pre-season game last season, Ten Hag deemed him surplus to requirements, signing left-back Tyrell Malacia immediately.

The Brazilian did not quite live up to expectations at United, which were heightened after a very impressive debut in a win away at Paris Saint-Germain.

What his arrival did do, was create competition to spur Luke Shaw onto a new level. For that, you could consider the move worthwhile.

Telles’ goal at home to Villarreal was a bit special too. We wish him the best at Al Nassr.
