West Brom prove transfer pulling power with Jeremy Sarmiento Brighton move

West Brom have largely been forced to focus on player exits this summer given the club’s worrying financial situation.

But fans have been relieved of those worries for now with the exciting loan signature of Jeremy Sarmiento, who has joined the club on a season-long loan from Brighton, as per the official Baggies website (25 July).

It is a real coup for the Baggies, who have managed to recover somewhat from the devastating loss of Dara O’Shea to Burnley.

As a winger, Sarmiento will, of course, be playing at the other end of the pitch, but his arrival proves that West Brom still have plenty of pulling power in the transfer market.

The Ecuador international, who boasts 13 caps for his country, undoubtedly could have ventured elsewhere this summer, especially having played at the 2022 World Cup.

But he and his parent club have chosen The Hawthorns, where plenty of minutes and opportunities to impress should be on the cards under Carlos Corberan.

It will be a slight drop down in standards, which should allow the winger to improve upon his tally of two assists from his 12 Brighton appearances last time out.

He did appear from the bench in almost every single one of those matches, and so is certain to get on the scoresheet and chip in with assists when given a start by Corberan.

The 21-year-old is clearly very highly valued on the south coast, recently signing a contract extension with the Seagulls, but now is the time to develop his career in a more appropriate setting.

Baggies fans will be excited to see their new man in action as soon as possible, with such fans desperate for the youngster to set The Hawthorns alight over the coming months.

In other West Brom news,a journalist has reacted to worry at The Hawthorns, claiming the club can be saved “quickly.”
