Predicted Brighton XI to face Newcastle with Ferguson and Mitoma in contention
Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi is expected to name a strong starting XI to face Newcastle United in the final game of their Premier League Summer Series. The Gulls, who were beaten 4-3 by Chelsea in the opening game of their American tour, bounced back with a 2-0 win over Brentford last time out.
The Italian named a relatively strong side to face Thomas Frank’s men but was still able to rest the likes of Evan Ferguson, Kaoru Mitoma and Pervis Estupinan brought on from the bench. Midfielder Moises Caicedo, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, played 25 minutes from the bench.
Summer signing Mo Dahoud sat out of that game with Solly March also expected to feature against Newcastle. Fellow new arrival Bart Verbruggen has been tipped to start between the sticks, while captain Lewis Dunk is yet to start in pre-season.
Newcastle are also expected to name a rotated side having rested the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock and Harvey Barnes in their draw with Chelsea. Eddie Howe’s side know a win will maintain their unbeaten pre-season campaign.

However, Brighton will prove another stern test in New Jersey. De Zerbi’s team were one of the surprise packages in the Premier League last season finishing in sixth. The Gulls will embark on their first ever European campaign after securing a Europa League finish alongside Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
Predicted Brighton & Hove Albion XI: Verbruggen; Hinshelwood, Veltman, Dunk, Estupinan; Caicedo, Dahoud, Lallana; March, Mitoma, Ferguson.
