Saudi Arabia want to sign £25m Aston Villa ace, Nottingham Forest have bid for Unai Emery target
Aston Villa
The latest updates on the rumour mill for Aston Villa.
Aston Villa have signed some strong new recruits this summer transfer window as they look to build on their impressive Premier League season. They started by snapping up Youri Tielemans and have since splashed out Pau Torres and Moussa Diaby but that isn’t the end of their business.
There are still targets on the radar but there are also potential outgoings who look set to follow the likes of Ashley Young and Marvelous Nakamba out the door. Here’s a look at some of the latest updates for Villa as the new Premier League campaign quickly approaches.
Saudi Arabia come knocking for Villa defender
The Saudi Pro League have arrived at Villa’s door as they enquire about a deal for Lucas Digne. According to the Daily Mail, Al-Hilal — who recently signed Kalidou Koulibaly from Chelsea, and Rúben Neves from Wolves — are interested in snapping up the left-back just 18 months after he joined the Villans in a £25 million deal from Everton.
It was revealed last month that the Premier League club are open to offers to Digne, who has fallen out of favour under Emery since the arrival of Álex Moreno back in January. The coaching staff also believe that summer signing Pau Torres can also operate at left-back, which pushes Digne further down the pecking order.
Forest place bid for Villa target
Aston Villa-linked Roger Ibañez is now the subject of a firm Nottingham Forest bid, according to Fabrizio Romano. The transfer guru has reported that the Reds have tabled an offer worth €25 million (£21.5m) for the AS Roma centre-back, and negotiations are now underway.
Unai Emery’s side have been monitoring Ibañez as he is tipped to leave the Italian side this summer. Tottenham Hotspur are also in the running for his services and both clubs were expected to put in offers for him but it looks like Forest might well wrap up a deal under their noses.
