Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Maisie Symonds has signed a contract extension with the club ahead of the new season.

The Seagulls announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

Symonds has come through the academy system at Brighton & Hove Albion and she has gone on to make 22 appearances for the Sussex club in the Barclays Women’s Super League. The midfielder’s progress was hindered by illness and injury last season. Symonds missed almost the entire campaign due to her health.

The player is now back to full fitness and she will be raring to go when the new season kicks-off in a few weeks’ time.

After retaining Symonds’ services, Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Melissa Phillips said “We’re happy that Maisie has extended her stay with us at Brighton.

“She was unfortunate last season to be out with illness and injury but she’s an ambitious young player with a lot of potential.

“We fully believe she will thrive in the squad in the season ahead as we strive to be more competitive in the WSL table.”

Symonds follows fellow Brighton & Hove Albion youngsters Chelsea Ferguson and Libby Bance in signing a new contract with The Seagulls this summer.
