Brentford have made an offer of around €30million (£25.9m) offer for Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez.

Thomas Frank’s side are seeking attacking reinforcements, with Gonzalez one of a number of names on their wishlist.

The 25-year-old Argentina international contributed 14 goals and five assists during 42 Fiorentina appearances last season.

Brentford have widened their transfer net after seeing an offer of £35m plus potential adds-ons rejected by Nottingham Forest for Brennan Johnson last month.

The west London club remain keen on the Wales international, but Forest continue to value him at around £50m.

Gonzalez, who has won 24 caps for his country, is currently under contract until 2026. A left-footed forward, Gonzalez featured on both flanks for Fiorentina last season.

Brentford have made forward Kevin Schade’s loan a permanent move this summer but will be without striker Ivan Toney until January after he was banned for eight months for breaking betting rules.

Frank’s side start the 2023-24 Premier League season at home against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
