Erik ten Hag ‘very happy’ that Harry Maguire is staying at Manchester United
Erik ten Hag has confirmed that he is happy with his current Manchester United squad but refused to rule out more additions.
The Red Devils have spent heavily this summer in an effort to improve on their third-placed finish last term. Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund are United’s three deadline arrivals so far - the trio having been signed for a total fee of around £175m.
Links to further additions refuse to go away. The likes of Sofyan Amrabat and Benjamin Pavard are thought to be targets over the closing few weeks of the transfer window. Amid reports surrounding the pair, Red Devils boss Ten Hag has suggested that as it stands, his side’s business is finished, but did not rule out any late surprises.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of the weekend’s clash with Spurs, he said: “Our squad is covered - all the positions are covered - but of course, we are Manchester United and we are always looking for improvement and when there is the opportunity we will strike in the last two weeks. As I said we are always looking for opportunities but I think we have a good squad. [With] this squad we are convinced we can go for our targets.”
In order for more signings to arrive, the Red Devils may have to sell players. A number of the current squad including Eric Bailly, Donny van de Beek and Brandon Williams are all up for sale.
United are also open to letting Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial leave but none are actively being pushed out of the door. Maguire looked set to move to West Ham after the Hammers had a £30m bid accepted for his services, but a deal has since collapsed.

Speaking out on a deal for Maguire, Hammers boss David Moyes said: “I don’t talk about players at other clubs. But we did have an offer for Harry Maguire. And, at the end, we haven’t been able to take it further. We’re looking at several players at other clubs.”
One deal that United could do before the end of the window could be an extended stay for defender Jonny Evans. The 35-year-old centre-back returned to the club earlier this summer on a short-term contract following his exit from Leicester.
He played a part in pre-season, with Ten Hag confirming that talks are ongoing to extend his contract until at least the end of the season. Asked if he wants Evans to stay, Ten Hag replied: “Of course, otherwise we would not be talking.

“We will see, we are in talks and when we have news we will bring it as always. For this month he is under contract but we are talking.”
Regardless of any new additions, the Red Devils will be aiming to extend their perfect start to the new campaign. United squeezed past Wolves last time out despite an under-par performance.
They are next back in action against Spurs on Saturday evening for their first away game of the season. United then take on Nottingham Forest and Arsenal before the first international break of the campaign.
