Nottingham Forest have completed one of their most significant signings of the transfer window, in PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.

Forest have trailed the 25-year-old all summer, after first highlighting his talent over a year ago.

They have now completed a deal, understood to be worth in excess of £30million, to bring him to the City Ground from the Netherlands.

Sangare, who has signed a five-year contract, had been on the radar of numerous other clubs, including Liverpool.

But Forest’s perseverance has paid off, as they have secured the services of a player who they hope will become a key figure in the centre of Steve Cooper’s midfield.

The Ivory Coast international began his career Toulouse in France, making 80 appearances for them between 2016 and 2020, before joining PSV, where he has made 140 appearances in all competitions.

His form was generating significant interest a year ago, with Sangare rewarded with a new long-term contract.

But he has been persuaded to leave a club that will compete in the Champions League, to join a Forest side with ambitions to establish themselves in the Premier League.
