It proved to be another dramatic day in the Premier League.

26 goals were scored from six matches, with two teams netting five. Manchester City romped to a 5-1 victory over Fulham and Tottenham secured a 5-2 win at Burnley.

Brentford and Bournemouth played out a four-goal thriller, while it was the same outcome at Bramall Lane as Sheffield United drew 2-2 with Everton. The two other fixtures saw Nottingham Forest run out 1-0 winners at Chelsea and Brighton breeze past Newcastle 3-1 in the late kick-off.

Meanwhile, Erling Haaland, Son Heung-min and Evan Ferguson managed to grab a hat-trick. This is only the second time three different players have scored a Premier League hat-trick on the same day, after 23rd September 1995 when Robbie Fowler, Alan Shearer and Tony Yeboah all netted trebles.

It is no surprise that Haaland was one of those who scored a hat-trick as he netted his seventh treble for City in their rout over Fulham at the Etihad Stadium. All three of Haaland’s goals came in the second-half after Nathan Ake and Julian Alvaraz scored either side of Tim Ream’s equaliser.

Haaland’s first was a cool finish as he pounced on a ricochet before slamming beyond Bernd Leno. Haaland then scored from the penalty spot and added his third with a thumping effort following Sergio Gomez’s pull back. Haaland now has six goals from four Premier League matches so far this season.

Speaking after Haaland’s treble, City assistant boss Juanma Lillo said: “This guy was born scoring goals and he will go through his whole life scoring goals. It would be no surprise if he manages to get the same figures as last year but it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t.”

Son also scored a hat-trick as Tottenham swept aside Burnley at Turf Moor. The South Korean was set up by Manor Soloman for his first on 16 minutes, before adding two more in the second-half. Son’s third was a trademark finish as he ran through on goal and slotted the ball into the back of the net.

Ange Postecoglou praised Son following the full-time whistle. The Aussie said: “Sonny was outstanding. He’s been an outstanding leader, with the way he presents himself every day in training. He led our press today - then he has the quality to take his chances. I’m really pleased for him.”

Ferguson then joined the party with a hat-trick of his own in Brighton’s impressive win over Newcastle. Ferguson tapped home his first after Nick Pope spilled Billy Gilmour’s strike. This was before Ferguson struck from long-range, before completing a treble with a deflected effort.

Roberto De Zerbi lauded Ferguson in his post-match press conference. He said: “His improvement is important for him, for us, for his career because he’s working to complete his qualities, not only score, because he can become big, big, big. His qualities are enough to become a great player, one of the top scorers in Europe.”
