Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been presented with the 2022/23 PFA Fans’ Player of the Year award.
The Academy graduate beat off competition from his Premier League peers to scoop another accolade, in recognition for a superb campaign, in which he hit 30 goals in all competitions, helping the Reds finish in third spot in the table.
Supporters had their say on the outcome to add to the individual honours achieved by the England international, after he won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year at our own awards dinner.
Rashford is only the third United man to lift this trophy, following Wayne Rooney (2006 and 2010) and Cristiano Ronaldo (2007 and 2008), who both won it twice.
He topped the poll ahead of Manchester City duo Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, Arsenal pair Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, plus Harry Kane, formerly of Tottenham but who will now be representing Bayern Munich when we tackle the Bundesliga giants in the Champions League later this month.
Marcus opened his account for 2023/24 with a superb opening goal in the luckless 3-1 defeat at Arsenal on Sunday, repeating his strike at the Emirates Stadium last term.
The 25-year-old is currently training with England as he and Reds team-mate Harry Maguire prepare for the European Championship qualifier against Ukraine on Saturday and next Tuesday’s international friendly with Scotland.
Congratulations again, Rashy, from all at United for a deserved award!
