Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund picked the phone up and dialled home in Denmark after learning the Reds’ Champions League fate.
Upon their return to the marquee European competition, United have been drawn in Group A alongside German heavyweights Bayern Munich, Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen. The latter presents Hojlund with not only a dream homecoming but also a chance to win family bragging rights.
His younger brothers - twins Emil and Oscar - are making their way in the Copenhagen squad, exactly like Rasmus before them, and the 18-year-olds have made nine senior appearances combined. Older sibling Rasmus was a regular for Copenhagen at a similar age before moving to Sturm Graz.
From there, Rasmus joined Atalanta and one season was enough to convince United to spend £72million on him. United will now meet Copenhagen home (October 24) and away (November 8) on the biggest stage.

Speaking about the on-field family reunion, Rasmus told Danish publication Bold.DK: “I’m really looking forward to meeting each other in the Champions League. It’s great to meet your former club.
“It’s my club at home. It’s not many times you get to meet your brothers in your career!”
“I called my brothers after the draw. Our parents were a bit divided because they don’t quite know who to stick with, but my brothers and I were like; ‘Come on!’ We are competitive people. That’s why we are where we are today.”
Rasmus impressed on his belated debut for United before the international break, playing 23 minutes during their agonising 3-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
