Manchester City are reportedly weighing up an approach for Chelsea full-back Ian Maatsen.
According to 90min, Pep Guardiola’s side are monitoring Maatsen’s current contract situation ahead of making a move for him in the future. Currently, the 21-year-old left-back has just one year remaining on his deal at Stamford Bridge.
It is claimed Chelsea are keen for Maatsen to sign a contract extension but so far they have hit difficulties trying to finalise this. Last season, the Dutchman enjoyed a successful loan spell with Burnley and there were reports the defender was going to rejoin the Clarets on deadline day before signing permanently at the end of the season for £31.5m.
However, it is thought Maatsen rejected this approach from the Lancashire club adding further mystery to the saga. Mauricio Pochettino is a fan of the full-back and is thought to be trying hard to keep him.

At this moment, City are reportedly keeping an eye on the situation to see how it unfolds. Elsewhere, Brazilian media outlet Lance understands the Blues are lagging behind Chelsea in the race to sign promising Corinthians teenager Gabriel Moscardo.
The 17-year-old defensive midfielder has caught the eye in South America and has broken into the first team this season. It is claimed Chelsea had a €25m (£21.5m) offer rejected but are still working hard to get their man despite the transfer window being closed.
Corinthians value Moscardo at €30m (£25.8m) and City are thought to be monitoring his progress closely alongside Arsenal and Barcelona. Chelsea are thought to hold an advantage because the player has the same agent as their recent signings Angelo Gabriel and Deivid Washington.
