Kyle Walker wants to spend ‘many more’ seasons at Manchester City but expressed frustration that his new contract has not been signed yet.
Walker’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and he explored a transfer to Bayern Munich over the summer before deciding to stay at City. He admitted recently that the length of contract on offer was the main factor in picking City, and is set to sign a new deal until 2026.
However, there has been no movement on that new deal being announced, and Walker was asked on Saturday if he wants to sign a new contract at City.
Walker had just scored his first international goal for England on his 77th cap, and was discussing his City situation after the Euro 2024 qualifying draw with Ukraine.

“I have an obligation to fulfil my contract,” Walker told Sky Sports. “Obviously things haven’t gone for whatever way. Whichever way you want to look at it, it’s not happened.
“But I’m a Manchester City player. I want to stay at this club for as long as possible. I need to do what’s right for me personally and that’s to stay at the top for as long as possible.
“There’s a lot of ex-players have told me, once you start coming down it is difficult. If I can fulfill this season and many more, hopefully at Manchester City, that will be fantastic.”
Walker told reporters after City’s win over Fulham that his new contract was expected, saying: “The extension is coming. It’s my seventh season here and I feel like one of the old ones - there’s me, Kevin [De Bruyne], John [Stones], Bernardo [Silva] and [Ederson] from the first couple of seasons when Pep came in,” he said.
“I love the place, I’ve experienced things I only dreamt of here - especially the last season - so why would you want to leave a club like this. It was about who gave me the most years, it wasn’t like I was going to a worse club because Bayern Munich is a massive club and seeing what Harry [Kane] is doing there and will do, it wasn’t a step down it was just what gave me the years in my contract to play football at the highest level.
“In the back of my head I always wanted to play for Man City but I had to do what was right for me and my future and that was just whichever club gave me the most years. I still think I’ve got a lot of life in the legs and I want to continue playing football.
“It was close but in football things can happen. Decisions can be made. Things can turn.”
