Aaron Ramsdale is going to have to get used to being out of the Arsenal team, according to pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Having started for England in Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Scotland at Hampden Park, the Gunners goalkeeper was surprisingly dropped to the bench for Sunday’s trip to face Everton at Goodison Park.
Summer signing David Raya, who arrived on loan from Brentford with an obligation for the Gunners to buy him next summer, was put into the side by Mikel Arteta, with the Gunners boss explaining his decision before the game, saying: “I think I mentioned it that we wanted to build a squad with two quality players in each position, with different characteristics, and we have got that now.
“And to maximise that they have to play games, and we have a lot of things coming up now. And we have the same with other players we have rotated and there will be a lot of game-time in the next few weeks.”
Raya kept a clean sheet as the Gunners edged past the hard working home side 1-0 thanks to Leandro Trossard’s second half goal, and Hasselbaink feels the Spain international could now be in goal for the foreseeable future.

“They paid a lot for Raya and I think he’s their No.1 and eventually he was going to play, I think today is the first day that he’ll be a regular,” the former Chelsea striker told Sky Sports.
“I don’t see goalkeepers getting minutes here and there, they need rhythm, they need to stay in that momentum.
“Raya is a very good goalkeeper and Aaron is as well, two big goalkeepers you want in your team. It’s hard and a difficult decision but I think we’ll see Raya in Arsenal ’s team for a little while.”

Hasselbaink’s fellow pundit Theo Walcott was a little more hopeful for Ramsdale prospects, saying: “I think it’s a really interesting point you say about the fixture pile-up but I’m a big fan of Aaron.
“I think you got to look at England’s perspective as well. It will be interesting to see how he reacts, he’s had to deal with a couple of relegations but this is something else.
“He’s at a very good team, he’s got No.1 on his shirt there and now he’s got a keeper challenging him. They’re going to buy him in time and it’s very interesting. I’m sure he can deal with it.”
