Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag claimed he has no regrets at not signing Harry Kane this summer.
United refused to pay Tottenham £100million for Kane, as well as his £400,000-a-week wages, with the England skipper joining German champions Bayern Munich. Instead United signed 20-year-old rookie Rasmus Hojlund, with Ten Hag standing by the decision, despite Kane’s proven ability at the highest level.
United face Bayern on Wednesday night in the Champions League and, when asked if he had any regrets at not signing Kane, Ten Hag said: “No. We are happy with Rasmus. For the first games, he was injured.
“But he played against Arsenal, he’s had a start and now we have to integrate him in the team. But you can see he’s a big talent.” United are in crisis, with Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton a third defeat in four games, with little to suggest the team can find a way out of their current malaise.
Ten Hag is without 12 players, either injured, unavailable or ineligible, with his options limited to such an extent he took four goalkeepers in his 21-man squad to Munich.
“From the start of last season, I almost never started with what I feel is the best starting line-up,” said Ten Hag. “But you have to deal with it and we always get results, apart from the period we’re in now.

“That’s football and I have the experience in the past. I managed it in the past and now we have to handle it and manage this. We don’t feel we need a reset, absolutely not,” said Ten Hag. “We’re in a process. What we have to demand is to be consistent. We have to step up in certain levels, for 90-plus minutes.”
