Richard Keys has reignited his war of words with Jamie Carragher by taking a ruthless swipe at the Liverpool legend.

Carragher, who once labelled Keys a “sad, desperate man,” claimed in midweek that Arsenal would never win the Premier League with Aaron Ramsdale in goal, after he was recently dropped in place of David Raya. The ex-Liverpool defender has already been strongly criticised by Ramsdale’s dad for his comments following Arsenal’s dramatic 2-2 draw with arch-rivals Tottenham on Sunday and now Keys has weighed in with his verdict.

“I didn’t agree with Carragher’s midweek assessment that Arsenal would never win the title with Ramsdale in goal,” the former Sky Sports presenter wrote on his weekly blog. “When I saw that my initial reaction was ‘nonsense’, because they were a whisker away from doing so last season.”

Then Keys proceeded to make a savage dig, saying: “But then I realised that Carragher played in a team that was never going to win the title with him in it, so he probably knows more about the subject than me.”

Carragher and the current BeIN Sports anchor disagreed on another subject last year, as Keys accused Carragher of being ‘borderline racist’ after he declared that the England national team manager should “always be English.” In response, he described Keys as a “sad, desperate man” on social media.

Their latest spat was the result of Carragher teasing Ramsdale over his reaction to Raya’s impressive save in the first half against Tottenham. The Arsenal goalkeeper, who’s played second fiddle for the Gunners’ last three games, raised his hands to applaud team-mate Raya while sitting on the bench.

Carragher joked on Sky: “You know when someone loses the Oscar and they’re clapping and smiling for the other person? I was laughing when I saw that. He’ll be absolutely devastated.”

The Anfield hero had said earlier in the week while working for CBS Sports: “100 per cent [Raya is better than Ramsdale]. Arsenal will never win the league with Ramsdale in goal, no chance. Ramsdale is playing for Arsenal and he can’t even get in the England team.”
