The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA), the union that represents footballers, has offered their help in a bid to resolve the dispute between Jadon Sancho and Erik ten Hag.

The Athletic reported that Sancho was banished from the United first team after refusing to apologise to Ten Hag. This came after the 23-year-old said that he had been made a “scapegoat for a long time” in response to United’s manager stating that his omission from the club’s matchday squad for the defeat to Arsenal due to his performances in training.

Following the incident, the England international was asked to apologise to Ten Hag. However, he declined to do so, leading to the club’s decision to deal with a “squad discipline issue”.

Sancho is pursuing an individual training programme using United’s academy facilities. He is still receiving support from fitness staff and coaches and has not been put in isolation.

Sancho has since not been part of any United matchday squad, with Ten Hag stating last Friday that his future at Old Trafford “depends on him”.

The PFA has been in contact with Sancho and United to offer its support in settling the dispute. There has, however, been no resolution so far and the winger looks likely to miss United’s Carabao Cup third round tie against Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

United were open to selling Sancho to Saudi Arabia before their transfer window shut, but the player chose not to pursue the opportunity and instead travelled to New York for a break.

Before United’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal, Sancho had participated in all three of his side’s Premier League fixtures, with his most recent outing being against Nottingham Forest on August 26.

As it stands, Ten hag has one natural right-winger available in Facundo Pellistri, with Antony unavailable until further notice and Amad Diallo remaining a long-term injury absentee.
