Manchester United defender Sergio Reguilon has sustained an injury and may not return before next month’s international break.
The injury is only minor but now leaves United with no senior left backs in their first-team squad, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia out with long-term problems.
Reguilon missed Tuesday’s 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace but had started United’s previous three matches, following the 26-year-old’s arrival on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
United host Palace again on Saturday as they return to Premier League action, before welcoming Galatasaray to Old Trafford in the Champions League on Tuesday. Their final game before the international break is also at home, when they play Brentford on Saturday, October 7.
He is definitely missing for the visit of Palace to Old Trafford this weekend and his participation against Galatasaray and Brentford is a question mark
Reguilon joined United on loan from Spurs late in the summer transfer window, amid a serious injury to England international Shaw. The Spaniard had previously spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid, having fallen out of favour at Tottenham.
Following Reguilon’s arrival, United sent 20-year-old left-back Alvaro Fernandez on loan to La Liga side Granada. United are also short on the other side of defence, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka sustaining a hamstring injury last week that will keep him out for up to two months.
