Your views

We asked you for your views on Sir Jim Ratcliffe pursuing a 25% stake in Manchester United, and whether this is the right move to return the Red Devils to former glory.

Here are some of your answers:

Euan: Doubtful this will work in favour of united. Even if Ratcliffe moves into sole control over the entirety of United, it will still probably take upwards of 10 years after 10 years or more of the Glazers sucking it dry. On top of that, his track record isn’t great anyway. I’m optimistic and hopeful about success, but it looks unlikely if we are being honest.

Mohamed: This has to be a step in the right direction. Ineos having the full running of the football operations will get United back to the top.

Liam: All this does is make everything more complicated and add even more cooks in a very dated, stuck-in-their-ways style kitchen - one that can’t take criticism. We wanted a fresh start, a reset, with investment in club infrastructure, now it’s just more of the same, debt remains, no clue what the plan is. At least the Qatar bid had a plan to present to fans.

Steve: This is a huge step in the right direction. We don’t need £1bn in available transfer funds, we already did that and look what happened, we need a plan to have people who understand football actually managing the football with solid football decisions and motivations. The team Sir Jim is assembling looks very positive. Let’s get behind it!

Jim: It’s ridiculous. Just a way for the Glazers to grab more cash while giving nothing back to the club. Full takeover was the only way that the club could move forward. As long as the Glazers are still involved in Manchester United, they’ll continue to bleed the club dry. Fans should be boycotting games and hitting them where it hurts, their pockets.

Rob: Sir Jim can’t afford to meet the needs of Manchester United let alone to rid them of the Glazers. The club can’t compete with the European elite. I don’t like the Glazers, I don’t like Sir Jim. Neither is good for the club let alone them both together. Sir Jim wanted Chelsea, made a mess at Nice, now he’s trying to buy United. He can’t afford it.
