Sergio Reguilon in action for Manchester UnitedSergio Reguilon has made three appearances for Manchester United so far this season

Defender Sergio Reguilon could be fit for Manchester United for their crucial Champions League game against FC Copenhagen at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

The Red Devils are struggling with injuries and have lost both of their Group A fixtures so far.

Reguilon has recently recovered from injury but missed Saturday’s win at Sheffield United because of illness.

“Sergio got ill for Saturday so he was fit,” Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag said.

“He trained all week last week and yesterday [Sunday] he was back in part training. He will train [on Monday] and then we have to assess if he is ready and game fit or if he can be involved in the squad. We have to wait for that.”

Reguilon’s return would be a boost for Manchester United, with midfielder Sofyan Amrabat having to play out of position to cover at left-back.

United to pay tribute to Charlton

Tuesday’s game will be an emotional one as it will be United’s first home game since club legend Sir Bobby Charlton’s death was announced on Saturday.

The club is yet to finalise the details of a planned tribute to the 1966 World Cup winner but the players will wear black armbands and there will be a minute’s silence.

“He is a huge inspiration for us every day.” said Ten Hag.

“He is in front of Old Trafford, with Denis Law and George Best [in the statue]. He is always with us. I am sure it will be even more a very emotional evening.”

Rasmus set for family reunion with former side

The game will also see striker Rasmus Hojlund face his younger twin brothers and former club.

The Denmark international, who joined Manchester United from Serie A side Atalanta in the summer for £72m, has scored three goals for the Red Devils - in the Champions League defeats to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.

He has enjoyed a rapid rise since leaving FC Copenhagen in January last year, having a spell at Sturm Graz before moving to Atalanta.

His 18-year-old twin brothers, Emil and Oscar, are on the books at FC Copenhagen, with the latter expected to be in the squad to travel to Old Trafford.

“You know it’s a special game for him,” Ten Hag said of Rasmus.

“He grew up at the club and you know he will be highly motivated. It’s for me, for the team but especially of course for him to use that in the right direction, the right balance.”
