Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live after the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, former Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes the club made a mistake not signing Harry Kane.

Saha says the lack of goals is part of the problem, with summer signing Rasmus Hojlund yet to score a Premier League goal for the club.

“I was really pushing for signing of Harry Kane because he’s more experienced,” Saha said.

“He has the capacity to hold his ground and make sure that he provides the balance that the team needs, especially when you’re facing teams like [Manchester] City. You need that kind of charisma and class.”

Kane’s stellar start to life at Bayern Munich - 12 goals in nine Bundesliga games - only compounds United’s issues up front while Saha also doubts whether Marcus Rashford is the answer given last season’s top scorer only has one goal so far this season.

“Rashford is still young but I don’t think he’s got the eye of a striker - he’s got the eye of a forward,” Saha added.

“He likes to be on the ball, he likes to dribble and impress with his skills but that’s not what the line-up for Manchester United needs most of the time.

“You’re missing that experienced player who is looking to score doubles or hat-tricks. There’s no element of this in United at the moment.”
