Manchester United have confirmed a memorial service is to be held for Sir Bobby Charlton at Manchester Cathedral.
The Manchester United icon passed away on October 21 at the age of 86. Charlton made 758 appearances for United and won the European Cup in 1968 as well as the World Cup with England in 1966.
Tributes for the legendary figure have been pouring in over the last nine days, with United moving to pay tribute ahead of their home matches against FC Copenhagen and Manchester City. The area in front of the Trinity Statue at Old Trafford - which depicts Charlton alongside his heroic teammates George Best and Denis Law - has been covered with floral tributes as well as memorabilia from countless clubs.

Around 80,000 people have also signed the books of condolences, both online and in person, and mourners are being given another chance to celebrate Charlton’s remarkable life in an upcoming memorial service. The service will take place at Manchester Cathedral on Monday, November 13 at 2pm.
The procession to the cathedral will also pass by Old Trafford where fans will be able to say a final farewell. Further details of the service being announced in due course. Charlton’s family have requested privacy around the arrangements for a private funeral ceremony.
United have also announced that the memorabilia placed at Old Trafford has been relocated to the club’s museum and will be laid alongside tributes left by fans following the death of Sir Matt Busby in 1994. Meanwhile, the plastic will be removed from the floral tributes and recycle, and the flowers themselves will be composted and used at the gardens at Carrington.
