Nottingham Forest have put Jose Sa on their shortlist of options as they look to bolster their goalkeeping ranks this summer.

Dean Henderson remains the club’s priority target, as they look to bring the England international back to the City Ground permanently, following his loan spell last season. Forest remain in negotiations with Manchester United, in an effort to make that happen.

But Forest have also held discussions with Wolves over Sa, who is well known to the Forest hierarchy.

Sa played for Forest’s sister club Olympiacos across two seasons between 2018 and 2021.

Sa has been at Wolves since July 2021 when he signed a five-year deal with the Midlands side.

He had an impressive debut campaign and had the highest goals prevention rate of any other goalkeeper out of Europe’s top five leagues in 2021-22.

The former Portugal Under-23 international featured 39 times for Wolves last season as Julen Lopetegui’s side secured a 13th-placed finish in England’s top flight.

Forest have Wayne Hennessey on their books, but the Wales international is currently injured.

Ethan Horvath has also returned to Forest following his loan spell at Luton, but is likely to be allowed to move on this summer, if the club land their targets.

Forest are next in action on July 15 when they play Notts County in a pre-season friendly.
