Manchester United are undergoing preparations for the 2023/24 season, both on the training pitch and in the transfer market.

Erik ten Hag’s side kicked off their pre-season with a 2-0 win over Leeds in a friendly in Oslo and they are now getting ready to play Lyon at Murrayfield on Wednesday. Things will then step up a notch as the squad jets off to the United States for further friendlies.

Meanwhile, plans are underway to strengthen Ten Hag’s playing squad, with further players set to follow Mason Mount through the door. Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana has been identified as the replacement for David de Gea, while a top-class striker is still on the club’s wishlist.

With less than a month to go until United kick off their Premier League campaign against Wolves at Old Trafford, time is of the essence. Here is the latest transfer news from Mirror Football.

Onana says goodbye in Milan

Andre Onana dined at Javier Zanetti’s restaurant in Milan ahead of his transfer from Inter to Manchester United.

He ate at the Botinero restaurant after Inter agreed to sell the 27-year-old Cameroon international for a package worth around £50million.

Inter have identified Anatoliy Trubin at Shakhtar Donetsk as a replacement for Onana and will use some of the money earned to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

Ten Hag will allow Facundo Pellistri to leave the club on loan for the 2023/24 season.

Pellistri has found game time hard to come by since joining the club in 2020 and has previously spent time on loan with Alaves.

He will reportedly sign a new contract with United before heading out on loan once more, with a place in the first-team squad currently beyond him. He might not be alone, with Anthony Elanga attracting lots of interest from other clubs too.

Signing a goalkeeper and a centre-forward are clear priorities for United this summer, but they are looking at other positions too.

Sky Sports Germany are reporting that United are ‘still in the race’ to sign Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich this summer.

Manchester City are chasing the France international in case Kyle Walker leaves, but United are also in the picture. Erik ten Hag likes the fact that Pavard can play at centre-back and right-back.
