Liverpool transfer news, Frank Leboeuf urges Chelsea not to sign ‘great’ player
Frank Leboeuf has questioned Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea and their quest to secure the transfer of Liverpool target Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion this summer.
The former Chelsea player doesn’t think the 21-year-old has the experience to do the business at Stamford Bridge because the club’s midfield is already ‘very, very young’.
A number of high-profile players have departed Chelsea this summer, including Mateo Kovacic joining Manchester City, N’Golo Kante heading to Saudi Arabia and Mason Mount signing for Manchester United.
As a result, Leboeuf doesn’t think Chelsea should be signing Moises Caicedo, despite the former World Cup winner admitting that he was ‘one of the best players in his position’ during the last campaign, as he told ESPN.
Those in London aren’t the only ones keen on Caicedo because there are suggestions Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will push to sign him, if Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are sold – that seems ever so likely now.
Well, if Chelsea listened to Leboeuf, then Liverpool’s chances of signing Caicedo would increase given his latest comments.

“I love the player,” said Leboeuf. “What he showed last season was absolutely fantastic and one of the best players in his position right now.
“It’s not, for me, what Chelsea should look for. They have no experience players in the middle of the park. That is what lacking the most for me at Chelsea. They have young players, who are very talented players, but you can see the age. They are very, very young (the oldest is Gallagher at 23). You need players with experience.
“They lost Kovacic, Kante and Jorginho before the end of the season and they didn’t replace them. Caicedo is a great player, but he hasn’t got the experience that I am looking for and will be needed in the middle of the park for Chelsea.”

Caicedo would be a top purchase for Liverpool or Chelsea
Last season, Chelsea had a load of experienced players, yet look how that worked out?!
So, they shouldn’t opt against signing Caicedo because of that. Yes, he might need time to progress to the next level, but it would be worth it – he is pushing for that move.
As for Liverpool, Henderson has gone and Fabinho is going to join suit, so surely one moe big name is needed this summer and it wouldn’t be a bad idea for Jurgen Klopp to reunite Caicedo with Alexis Mac Allister at Anfield.
