25-year-old Arsenal target agrees terms to join Chelsea

Chelsea are moving for Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Robert Sanchez just hours after links to Arsenal emerged.

Arsenal may now see Robert Sanchez join London rivals Chelsea as they ramp up their move for the goalkeeper.

That is according to multiple reports this afternoon as Chelsea seemingly attempt to get Sanchez snapped up.

The Daily Mail report that Sanchez has now agreed to join Chelsea as he prepares to reunite with Ben Roberts.

Chelsea’s goalkeeping coach worked with Sanchez at Brighton and their relationship is thought to be key to the deal.

That is echoed by the London Evening Standard, who claim that Roberts has recommended a move for Sanchez.

It’s stated that Sanchez has now become Chelsea’s primary target as they chase a new goalkeeper.

Fabrizio Romano adds that Chelsea have now sent a ‘formal bid’ for Sanchez with negotiations ongoing.

Romano notes that Sanchez has already accepted a move to Chelsea and Brighton are hoping to sell.

Sanchez still has two years left on his contract but he is available after losing his place to Jason Steele at the end of last season.

Arsenal could miss out on Robert Sanchez

Chelsea seem to be accelerating their move for Sanchez just hours after links to Arsenal emerged.

90Min reported this morning that Arsenal had enquired about signing Sanchez as they chase a new goalkeeper.

Arsenal’s top target is Brentford stopper David Raya but the bees are seeking a deal worth around £40million.

That’s too pricey for Arsenal and they are subsequently looking at alternatives like Sanchez.

Both Raya and Sanchez are ball-playing goalkeepers who make more sense as competition for Aaron Ramsdale than current backup Matt Turner.

Chelsea may have caught wind of Arsenal’s interest and are now ramping up their efforts to get Sanchez on board, viewing him as ideal competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga – and may leave Arsenal to fully focus on Raya.
