Aaron RamseyAaron Ramsey is yet to make a league appearance for Aston Villa

Burnley are in advanced talks to sign England youth international midfielder Aaron Ramsey from Aston Villa for a fee believed to be in excess of £12m.

Ramsey, 20, spent last season on loan at Norwich City and Middlesbrough.

The Clarets are also in negotiations with Sheffield United for Norway international midfielder Sander Berge.

Berge, 25, joined the Blades from Genk for a club record £22m fee in 2020 and has gone on to make 109 appearances for the club and scoring 15 goals.

Burnley have had a busy summer since returning to the top flight by signing nine new players so far.

They have also held talks with Ajax in a loan move for Danish winger Mohamed Daramy, but the deal is complicated by reportedexternal-link interested from French side Reims.

BBC Sport understands Burnley retain an interest in Southampton winger Nathan Tella, having had a reportedexternal-link £9m bid rejected earlier this summer.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Turf Moor and was pivotal in helping the club gain promotion with 17 goals, though talks between the two clubs may drag on until the end of the window.

Ramsey, meanwhile, won the FA Youth Cup with Villa in 2021 and the U19 European Championship a year later but is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the club.

Berge exiting the Blades?

Sander BergeSander Berge has played over 100 games for Sheffield United since joining from Genk in 2020

Berge was entering the final year of his contract and will be the second big-name player to leave this summer after Iliman Ndiaye joined Marseille.

Both side were promoted to the Premier League last season and while Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has so far been able to spend around £56m on squad improvements, United boss Paul Heckingbottom’s budget has been restricted to just £11m on four relatively unknown players.

The South Yorkshire side host Crystal Palace on Saturday (kick-off 15:00 BST) but will see their squad further depleted should Berge complete a move to Turf Moor.

Star striker Ndiaye, who scored 15 goals last season, joined Marseille for a reported £20m last week with the club saying they “reluctantly” accepted a bid for the Senegal international.
