Jadon Sancho’s Man Utd nightmare: ‘Training and eating alone’ and put on transfer list

Jadon Sancho has been forced to train and eat away from his Manchester United team-mates at Carrington as the club prepare to offload the winger in January.

The 23-year-old has not played since being axed from United ahead of their Premier League trip to Arsenal last month. Erik ten Hag revealed in his post-match interview that Sancho had been dropped due to poor training performances. But the England international was having none of it and responded in ferocious fashion, posting a statement on social media a matter of hours later.

Sancho claimed he is being made a “scapegoat” and believes there are “other reasons” why he was not selected - rather than how he trained. The winger has since been banished by Ten Hag, with Sancho not training with the first-team squad following his outburst. According to the Daily Mail, the ex-Borussia Dortmund man is working alone at the academy facilities and is not allowed to eat or mix with his team-mates.

In fact, the report also states that Sancho even has to lock the door because of potential safeguarding problems with senior players interacting with minors. Sancho can return to the United senior fold if he does apologise to Ten Hag, though it does have to be sincere and thorough.

Sancho has so far not said he is sorry to Ten Hag and is showing no signs of backing down despite appeals from United team-mates, including Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw. In the meantime, as revealed by Mirror Sport, the United hierarchy are making plans for his exit in the January transfer window.

United coughed up £73million for Sancho’s services from Dortmund in 2021, but he has failed to live up to expectations, scoring 12 goals in 82 appearances. Last season, Sancho was handed around three months off by Ten Hag to recover from physical and mental issues.

Sancho returned to action in February and scored his first goal since coming back into the fold against Leeds. But after coming off the bench in each of United’s first three Premier League matches this season, Sancho was dropped ahead of the Red Devils’ 3-1 defeat against Arsenal.

Al-Ettifaq were interested in a loan move for Sancho before the Saudi Arabia transfer window slammed shut last month, but a potential transfer collapsed after United included an obligation to buy Sancho for £50m when his temporary spell came to an end. Steven Gerrard’s side would not have been able to afford United’s asking price.

United are aware they will have to take a hit on the amount they paid for Sancho over two years ago, with his market value almost halving to around £40m. Sancho’s former club Dortmund could prove to be an escape route, with a potential move said to be an ‘appealing’ option for the German side.
